Orkus! movie tip: “Lord of Misrule”
Rebecca Holland (Tuppence Middleton) is a vicar and moves with her husband Henry (Matt Stokoe) and daughter Grace (Evie Templeton) to a small village in the south-west of England. Remnants of an old folk belief survive there. For the harvest festival play, Jocelyn Abney (Ralph Ineson) plays a creature called the “Lord of Disorder”, who drives away a malevolent demon called “Gallowgog” so as not to endanger the harvest. But suddenly Rebecca’s daughter disappears …
Director William Brent Bell, who has already proven his affinity for the genre with “The Boy” and “Orphan: First Kill”, delivers a thoroughbred folk horror film here.
