Dark folk in its most primal version – martial, hypnotic and atmospheric – flows down “The Dark River”. The river of the dead describes the sound-painting album very well. Nature-bound “Odhinn” is invoked, the “Conquerors” of the past are conquered and the realization is achieved: “All Is One”. The duo’s dark vocals hover over the tracks, which convey a melancholy feeling of desolation and at the same time cast a spell over you. Erin Powell’s (Awen) characterful voice sets special accents in “I Am the Wolf”. “The Dark River” is a dark soundtrack to a mystically forgotten world.
