On September 1, 1986—40 years ago— New Model Army released their third album, “The Ghost of Cain.” Did you already know these 5 facts?
★ In 1986, a lot changed for this likable band. Music sales went up. And the number of concertgoers kept growing.
★ One reason for this was certainly the single “51st State.” It’s the band’s only song that wasn’t written by the band members themselves, but by Ashley Cartwright (The Shakes).
★ The accompanying album, *The Ghost of Cain*, was released on September 1, 1986, on LP and cassette.
★ It wasn’t until the following year that it was released on CD, since many fans didn’t have a CD player yet.
★ In 1993, Sepultura released an original cover version of the album’s opening track, “The Hunt.”
