That’s how it was with SOULFLY

July 29, 2024, Hamburg: Knust
Concert review Soulfly 29.07.2024 in Hamburg Knust
It was hot, it was loud, it was awesome and it was a real kick in the teeth! – On July 29, 2024, the legendary metal band Soulfly and frontman Max Cavalera rocked the completely sold-out Knust in Hamburg. The Knust, a former cattle slaughterhouse, provided the perfect setting for an intense concert evening with powerful songs full of brute riffs.
The excitement was already palpable when the Frankfurt band Bird’s View kicked things off with their powerful alternative rock, as a colorful mixture of metalheads gathered in front of the stage.
When Max Cavalera and his band Soulfly took to the stage at 9.50 pm, they received a frenetic welcome from the fans and kicked off with the powerful “Back to the Primitive” without further ado. – A classic that immediately gave the fans sweaty goosebumps. Frontman Max Cavalera was in top form and thrilled both hardcore fans and new listeners with a mixture of old hits and newer songs from the current longplayer “Totem”. Songs like “Prophecy”, “Bleed” and “Eye for an Eye” had the crowd going wild, while the newer material like “Totem” and “Filth Upon Filth” showed that the band continues to be creative and can impress. The band’s energy was palpable at all times and caused quite a few moshpits.
Soulfly with frontman Max Cavalera, his son Zyon on drums, Mike DeLeon on guitar and Mike Leon on bass presented their full musical range in Hamburg, from thrashy speed attacks to groovy tribal elements. They proved once again why they have been a fixture in the metal scene for decades. The mixture of powerful rhythms, razor-sharp guitar riffs and the unmistakable voice of Max Cavalera made this evening an unforgettable, sweaty experience.
