Did you know?
– Born in South London to an Irish mother and a Scottish father, Anne Clark dropped out of school at the age of 16. She never really wanted to fit in.
– Among other things, she worked as a nursing assistant in a psychiatric clinic before taking a job in a record store.
– At the Warehouse Theatre, Anne organized performances by artists from the punk scene and eventually experimented with text and music herself. Her first performance was with Richard Strange’s Cabaret Futura with Depeche Mode.
– Their first album “The Sitting Room” was released in 1982.
– She is still one of the most important spoken word artists today.
