The British metalheads Neonfly also recognized that the lyrics of “Venus” are tailor-made for the successful scene and fetish model Dani Divine. They give the old disco hit from 1969 a rocking makeover, have Dani Divine speak a line or two of the lyrics and use her uncannily erotic presence in the accompanying video to great style and effect.

“A Goddess on a mountain top

Was burning like a silver flame

The summit of beauty and love

And Venus was her name…”

Many will be more familiar with the song from the eighties, because in 1986 the girl group Bananarama covered “Venus”. Their dance version was not only played on all radio stations in the world, but even in relevant scene clubs. After all, the ladies played with harmless horror clichés and flirted with a coffin in the trashy video clip back then. Dani Divine knows and loves both this version and the original version by the Dutch band Shocking Blue, “but it’s needless to say that the one by Neonfly rocks the most.” Privately, Dani is attracted to different genres of music, “mostly rock’n’roll, metal, gothic and eighties. I’ll narrow it down to my favorite classics: Type O Negative, Oingo Boingo, David Bowie, The Sisters of Mercy, Def Leppard, The Cure…” Here we have to put the brakes on the model, because she could probably list dozens more names. Like probably all of us, right? But the last time she danced was to Prince‘s song “Controversy,” she recalls with a charming smile.

And how did the desire to become active in the field of music come about? Through a friend the contact to Neonfly frontman Frederick Thunder was established. He and Dani live in London, even knew each other from before, but had never really spoken to each other. Dani had no studio experience until then, and of course the challenge and the fact of being in the video clip appealed to her: “I just couldn’t resist,” smiles the beauty.

In the next part, we’ll talk about the role Dani Divine prefers to play and what her dream car would look like.
