SixTurnsNine ‘s latest album is entitled “Soul Glitches” and shows the post-punk triphoppers from a particularly dark, but also danceable side. The subject matter is deep and – if one can generalize in this way – about inner demons that are either home-grown – or perhaps have always been there. They effortlessly alternate between melancholic post-punk, driving darkwave and beat-driven triphop, reminiscent of the best of the nineties without being trapped in the past. Despite their minimalist approach – a female, mesmerizing voice, driving bass and well-used electronics – SixTurnsNine have succeeded in creating a multi-layered album with “Soul Glitches”, which is not only available digitally, but also on CD and vinyl thanks to a crowdfund campaign. The trio themselves describe their style as “minimal non-pop”. You will find out more about them in the May/June issue.
