That’s how it was with HARAKIRI FOR THE SKY

The last rays of sunshine of the warm April day fell on the grounds of Munich’s Backstage. But this harmony came to an abrupt end as soon as you entered the hall, because darkness reigned here. On their “Scorched Europe” tour, the Austrian black metallers from Harakiri for the Sky gathered the masses and celebrated their dark, apocalyptic mass.

After the opening acts E-L-R from Switzerland and the Swedes from Dödsrit brought the almost completely black-clad crowd to a boil, it was time for the main acts of the evening. With a varied mix of old classics such as “Funeral” and “Fire, Walk with Me” as well as promising anthems from the new album “Scorched Earth”, released in January, such as “With Autumn I’ll Surrender”, the audience was warmed up without a break. A cover of the song “Street Spirit” by legendary British rockers Radiohead also made it into the setlist.

The five had full control of the packed hall at all times. While guitar virtuoso Matthias “MS” Sollak had his place firmly to the right of the center of the stage and controlled the action from there, singer Michael Kogler, known as JJ, had the rest to himself and tigered around wildly while passionately roaring the songs into the crowd. For the grand finale, “Lungs Filled with Water”, he even climbed down into the audience area and screamed the last verses towards the stage. A total of eight brute tracks, filled with desolate melodies and heavy riffs, Harakiri for the Sky thundered out to their loyal following over the course of the evening.

After the last note had faded away and the fans made their way back to the drinks and merchandise stand, everyone went outside again. It was now dark there too, but nowhere near as dark as it was that evening
