Sunday

Same procedure as last year?

Contrary to the announcement of a storm on Sunday, the weather was limited to a small thunderstorm with a brief shower. The Moritzbastei, for example, was an excellent place to enjoy the medieval charm and fine mead. (FW) In the evening, Primordial really heated up the pagan village. (MV) There was one must-attend event every year and that was the audience with the always misunderstood guru Noctulus, who once again made his considerable audience shake their heads – be it with laughter and/or bewilderment – with his senseless genius at the 31st Wave-Gotik-Treffen. (MLH)

New favorite bands?

Musically, like every single day of the WGT, you were spoiled for choice, but a highlight on this penultimate day was definitely the concert by Ashbury Heights in the Westbad. Shortly after Frozen Plasma, the band from Sweden entered the stage and proved that the meter-long queue in front of the venue had been worth the wait. After their performance, they were sure to have an even bigger fan base. The meeting is always an opportunity to discover many new favorite bands. (FW) In the Agra, on the other hand, the Swiss band The Beauty of Gemina, the goth rockers The Danse Society, the American death rockers Diva Destruction and finally Editors – who were only announced at relatively short notice, but nevertheless attracted a large fan base – did the honors and created an exuberant atmosphere. In the Volkspalast, meanwhile, A Projection. (MV)

Nihilistic variety

Spiritual Front lured the audience into the Schauspielhaus with their Nihilist Suicide Pop. And one thing can be said right away: The lighting technology could not have been better! 5 stars!!! After the quartet started with many a The Smiths cover, they continued with songs like “Darkroom Friendship” and singer Simone was completely in his element, repeatedly flirting with the audience, who could no longer hold on to their seats. A wonderful evening in a wonderful place, a great goosebump moment. (MLH) Tiamat literally brought the Felsenkeller to the boil. At the same time, The Cassandra Complex played an incomparable show at Haus Leipzig, in which old and new pieces became a wonderful unity. (MV)
