What did CRADLE OF FILTH say about LONDON AFTER MIDNIGHT, LACRIMOSA and others?

25 years ago Dani and Stuart from Cradle of Filth gave their opinion on selected songs from different bands.

AGATHODAIMON – “Tristetea Vehementa”
Stuart Anstis: If I were militant, I would say that was Dimmu Borgir.
Orkus: No, this is a German band.
Dani Filth: I have no idea, but fear. This is some of those Black/Death/Goth bands… right?! Could be anyone. But you said it was a German band? Are these Agathodaimon?
O: Yes, exactly.

COVENANT – “Final Man”
DF: We don’t know.
O: The last time I met you, you said the singer looked like the guy from Warlock.
DF: Ahh, yes, Julian Sands. Is that Das Ich?
O: No, the band here is from Sweden.
DF: That’s not necessarily my taste. Chart stuff.
O: There is another Black Metal band with the same name.
DF: Then it must be Covenant. Never heard of them.
SA: Sounds kind of like Depeche Mode.

COAL CHAMBER – “Oddity”
O: Do you like this kind of music?
DF: Not necessarily. Is that Pro Pain?
O: No, but also a band from the States.
DF: Crowbar?
SA: No, this is too fast for Crowbar. These are those guys we met once together with Slayer, System of the Damned, right? Or is that Fozzy Bear’s Metal band?
DF: Yes, the Muppets. This is Fozzy Bear!
SA: (Imitates Fozzy Bear)
O: They’re at Roadrunner.
DF: Is that Coal Chamber?
O: Exactly!

LONDON AFTER MIDNIGHT – “Demon”
DF: I don’t know what that is.
O: A Goth band.
DF: Lacrimosa, Love Like Blood…
O: Nah, these all look like girls.
SA/DF: (In one breath). Then it must be London After Midnight.
DF: That’s pretty good, very sensual.
O: Sensual?
SA: That seems to me to be the best song so far.

HECATE ENTHRONED – “Dark Requiems and Unsilent Massacre”
DF: This is Hecate Enthroned.
O: That was fast.
DF: Yes, isn’t it?! That’s okay, but there are a lot of bands that have done music like that before, including us…. (laughs). They are our little brothers, aren’t they?! At least, that’s what they sound like.
SA: Yes, like our tribute band.

LACRIMOSA – “Darkness” (Live)
DF: Is that Devil Doll? Boyzone?
O: No, this is a Gothic band.
SA: Then it’s Lacrimosa.
O: Right!
SA: When talking about Goth bands, everyone all over the world immediately comes up with Lacrimosa. But first there should be talk about Love Like Blood, and only then about Lacrimosa. I never really liked them, but they are okay.
O: Dani, you like Lacrimosa, don’t you?!
DF: Yes, I like them a lot. Not all of them, but I like this one.
SA: I don’t speak German, so I don’t listen to them much.
DF: I was listening to this band just the other day, why didn’t I think of it now!
SA: This is really the best Lacrimosa song I have ever heard.
