20 years ago: Profile with VNV NATION

Automatic translation. Improvements are constantly being worked on.

(The following interview was first published in the Orkus! issue September 2003)

20 years ago we asked Ronan Harris (VNV NATION) the very personal questions of our “profile”. Read here in part seven about relaxation techniques, favorite cities, special items, and what historical event Ronan would have loved to be at.

How and where can you relax best?
In the main square of Guanajuato (Mexico). Try it! Just sit there, talk nothing and enjoy.

What is your favorite city?
You need to ask for “cities” (plural). It depends on my mood. Mexico City, Madrid, Rome and Munich – each for different reasons.

Do you own a piece of jewelry that means a lot to you?
I do not like jewelry and consequently do not own any. However, there is one particular item that means a lot to me. When I left Ireland at 18 to work in the U.S., my friend’s mother pressed into my hand her Star of David, which she herself had received at 13. He was supposed to protect me and bring me home safe and sound. I was never able to return it to her, and I have kept it very carefully ever since.

What historical event would you like to have been a part of?
There are two. For one thing, I would have liked to be on the ground in ancient Ireland to verify that a battle between the Túatha Dé Danann and the Fomori really took place. Ireland’s legends and myths sound a lot like “The Lord of the Rings”. Second, I would have loved to have been there when the pyramids were built to see who really built them.

The eighth and last part is about the end of the world, death and tombstone.
