Musically, he focused primarily on a rocking guitar sound. “Diamond Dogs” has a proto-punk sound influenced by the Stooges that is second to none. The single even reached number 7 in Finland and the song became a central part of his North American tour, which Bowie mastered with flying colors in 1974, the year of its release. The B-side of the vinyl contains the song “Holy Holy”, which was recorded in 1971 as part of the “Ziggy Stardust” sessions.
