Even though the title of the EP is “Pale Dawn”, the dawn created by their sound is anything but pale. It shows itself in bright colors, painting dark post-punk with radiant dark wave sprinkles and a rousing, depressive gothic vibe. The restrained but all the more significant instrumentation is particularly atmospheric, accompanied by the whispering voice of Michael Longstaff. This is also noticeable in the number of instrumentals: Three out of six tracks don’t need lyrics to play their way into the listener’s marrow and make a lasting impression.
