Arneriach and Lykormas, the two heads behind Archaic Oath, are active in bands such as Marche Funèbre or Henelbestormer, but were once again in the mood for a blackened death metal departure in the vein of early Dissection or Naglfar. And you can hear this in every second of “Determined to Death and Beyond”. Epic guitar melodies meet wild rage, the riffs shimmer, the atmosphere conveys coldness. The Emperor cover as a bouncer also fits in with this. But the main focus is on the band’s own material. Songs like “Above the Ice” or “Forrest of Horror” breathe the spirit of the nineties and are simply great fun.
