With the song “Welcome | Death,” British modern metal band Collapse the Sky offers a first glimpse of their EP, set to be released this fall. Guitarist and band leader Flynn Green talks about career highlights, new approaches to songwriting, and dead forests in our two-part interview. Did you miss the first part? No problem— you can read it here.

Eerie and emotional

With “Welcome | Death,” Collapse the Sky presents a brand-new song. “We chose this track because it marks a turning point in our songwriting. The song has a dramatic, almost cinematic twist that delves deep into an eerie and emotional world, yet still retains melodic elements.” “Welcome | Death” captures the atmosphere of the entire EP. The intro also serves as the opening track for the EP, which, by the way, will share the same name as the first single. The release is scheduled for October.”

Deadwood

A music video was also released for the song, showing the band in a rather desolate-looking forest, and it garnered a lot of attention within just a few days. Flynn laughs. “The video was shot in various wooded areas around our home in Norfolk. We waited for fall so the forest would look dead and sad. Our goal was for the setting to reflect the mood of the song.” As mentioned, the full EP is set to be released this fall. “Over the next few months, we’ll gradually release more songs, culminating in the full EP. We hope this will build anticipation among our fans to the max.”
