LUCI FERRUM: Delicate vocals, hard electro

“I think it’s important to express our feelings as truthfully as possible,” says Luci Ferrum, explaining her musical career, which you can read about in our next issue. When writing lyrics, she has “one or two lines in my head that come to mind in bright neon letters. Those first phrases drive the whole song, because they’re usually the punchiest or most controversial lines in the song. Sometimes I just feel this bursting feeling in my chest and I sit down and write the whole lyric as a poem. Most of the time I write the lyrics on my own, and sometimes it takes me days or even weeks to decipher what my subconscious was really saying. I’m not afraid to express my feelings and thoughts on sensitive topics like sex, mental health and abuse.”
