Concert memories: Experiencing ALIENARE live

Automatic translation. Improvements are constantly being worked on.

What is green and dances and jumps up and down to the beat of electrifying music? No, not a frog in a dance class – it’s the synth-pop band Alienare from Hanover, who celebrated their 10th anniversary in 2024 with their “Lumen” tour and bathed German clubs in a green light. Originally starting out as a solo project, Alienare developed into a trio that established itself as a musical powerhouse in the synthpop scene with its catchy melodies and has long been more than just an insider tip.

With frontman T. Green, T. Imo on keys and the still mysterious new addition T. Drmx on drums, Alienare embarked on their anniversary tour – a journey that promised concerts full of energy, participatory moments and breathtaking stage shows. In their luggage they had their fifth and most successful album to date, “Lumen”, which not only gave the tour its name, but also inspired fans with their new anthem “To Whom It May Concern”.

We look back to September 21, when Alienare made a stop at Hamburg’s Logo.

To warm up

In the well-filled Logo, known for its intimate proximity to the audience, Beyond Border opened the evening with a successful mix of electro and dark wave. The band masterfully knew how to get the Hamburg fans in the mood to dance and give them a taste of the synthpop heaven to come. With “Come to Gather”, Beyound Border had their latest and very danceable album with them, which, with its driving beats and catchy melodies, provided the perfect basis for an atmospheric start.

The start: Green, greener, Alienare

After a short break, things turned green as expected, and very green indeed. Alienare took to the stage right on time at 21:00 and were greeted by an enthusiastic audience. – A colourful mix of long-time fans (recognizable by a green tie) and curious newcomers who wanted to be carried away by Alienare’ s innovative synthpop sound. New and joining the band for the first time: newcomer T. Drmx on drums. Wearing a mask, he mysteriously provided the danceable beats live.

A journey with energy

They opened the evening with “Lighthouse”, a song from their new album “Lumen”, which seemed like an anthem for new beginnings and community. The combination of driving beats and a catchy melody immediately found its way to the feet of the Hamburg audience and got them dancing. That’s how it should be! With “We Are The Light”, Alienare presented another rousing, danceable track from their new album, which further fueled the energy in the hall. “Departure” then opened the transition to a successful selection of songs that impressively reflected the band’s entire repertoire.

Highlights and surprises

A special highlight then: T. Green’s solo performance with acoustic guitar. With the songs “Forever” and a soulful interpretation of “Country Roads”, he provided an emotional moment that sent the audience into a languorous frenzy, allowed them to take a deep breath and created an impressive calm in the midst of the otherwise energetic show. Older songs such as “Move” and “Mission Abort”, or the driving “Diamonds” from the successful album “Emerald”, on the other hand, got the fans dancing again afterwards and made it clear that Alienare have mastered the perfect balance between melancholy and club-ready energy.

A perfect finish

After a good 90 minutes, Alienare bid farewell with “To Whom It May Concern”, a catchy tune that could have been the perfect way to end the evening – but the Hamburg audience had other plans. The fans demanded more with thunderous applause and were rewarded with a first encore consisting of the songs “A Thousand Miles”, “The Colour of Soul”, “#Neon” and “Arrival”. But even after that, the enthusiasm was unbroken, and so the band followed up with a second encore. After almost two hours, the final piece “Emerald” was the emotional and energetic conclusion to an unforgettable evening.

Conclusion

Alienare proved once again in Hamburg’s Logo, with its intimate club atmosphere, why they are one of the most exciting bands on the German synth-pop scene. Their combination of extremely danceable songs, coupled with an energetic electronic sophistication, their charismatic stage presence and their honest passion in their songs ensures that they are a live experience. It was an evening that not only delighted die-hard fans, but also newcomers.
