In five parts, we talk with Chibi extensively on the topic of memories.

What importance do you attach to memories?

I think memories are very important. They shape who we are as people. We learn from them, or we don’t, and we wish we had. Or we relive them when we want to feel happy or proud of ourselves. Or they haunt us. They shape us in so many imaginable ways.

What memory could you wallow in forever?

I have a bunch of them, good and bad. Memories of my family, experiences I had as a child. Memories of successes or times when I was afraid. One of my favorite memories in the last few years was a night with the guys in the band after a great show and learning that our album was really well received. We ran down to the beach. It was probably one o’clock in the morning and a full moon. We were all ecstatic and just ran into the waves in the darkness. It probably wasn’t the safest thing to do, but the memory of us all just letting go and being happy and splashing around under the moon in all that dark water will always stay with me.

Find out what keeps Chibi up at night in the next part.
