10. “The Nobodies” (2001)

The search for acceptance and the desire to find one’s place in the world is probably familiar to everyone. “The Nobodies”, they are the oppressed, the ignored, the outsiders. Two teenagers murdered twelve of their classmates in April 1999 before executing themselves. It will go down in history as the Columbine rampage. The song also deals with the two perpetrators. The title is a quote from Mark David Chapman, John Lennon’smurderer, who once said that he felt “like a nobody”. The lines “Today I’m dirty” and “Tomorrow I know I’m just dirt” are from the serial killer Carl Panzram, executed in 1930, the day before his execution. He is said to have murdered at least 22 people.
