Ronny Moorings (Clan of Xymox)

From which band was your first self-bought concert ticket?

That was so long ago. It was definitely in the seventies in my hometown where we had festivals from time to time. So I know I was there, but what bands I saw is mostly forgotten…. most likely it was a band called Kayak and some other Dutch bands.

What do you remember from the concert?

Not much, but that it had a great atmosphere and people were happy to see live bands.

What impressed you most at a concert?

I remember the first time I was really impressed by a band was with the Virgin Prunes, who were doing a cabaret-style concert. Together with the music and the interaction between the two singers, it became spectacular. The show was perfect for a normal club. At Bauhaus, too, I had the feeling that I was witnessing something special. The way they used the lights, fluorescent paint and Daniel Ash’s special guitar effects were amazing.

Have you ever been to a concert that just sucked?

Yes, many, but I just walked away instead of torturing myself.

In the next part we continue our “Pause for thought” with Ronny and ask him among other things about his best concert experience.

As a newsletter recipient you will find out immediately when the sequel will be released.
