WRITTEN BY WOLVES: Progressive Cinematic Rock from New Zealand
Written By Wolves describe their musical style as “progressive cinematic rock”. And we can only confirm this when listening to their second album “The Lighthouse”, if you define “rock” as a rather open term. Electronic sounds and the use of synthesizers with hard metal riffs create a massive bastard. Almost every single song is a hit and catchy tune. The concept album deals with the idea of “home”, although this is not necessarily tied to a specific location. “Please, Just Breathe”, for which a video was shot that is more like a short film than a music video, is particularly emotive. Singer Michael Murphy deals with the death of his father in the composition.
