WGT memories 2023: SKELETAL FAMILY

Automatic translation. Improvements are constantly being worked on.

“…I still haven’t processed it!” (Stan)

How often have you been to the WGT so far? (As a visitor and as an artist)
K: This is my fourth time.
Stan: I attended the festival only as a musician/artist. I think it’s been five times so far, but I definitely plan on coming next year as a visitor.
Trotwood: The band has been there, I think, six times, I’ve played on four as a performer.

What did you think before the gig and how do you look back on it today?
K: Will they like the new songs, will they like Anneka, will I be able to reprogram the keyboard in time?
S: Since we’ve played the festival a few times in the past decades, I had no fears before the gig. BUT the reaction we got that evening was amazing – I still haven’t processed it!

Which song did you particularly like to play?
K: That must be “Cry Baby” for me. I just love playing that driving piano part.
Anneka: I really enjoyed playing the songs from the new album, and it was great to see people singing along to songs like “New Horizon” and “Brewing up a Storm” even though they were never released as singles.
T: “Just a Friend” stands out because it’s one of the first songs we wrote as Skeletal Family. We’ve only played it a couple of times in all the years we’ve been on the road.
S: My favorite at the moment is “Edge of a Dream”, I think it’s very well received.

Were there any personal meetings that meant a lot to you?
K: Lots of old friends, but special mention goes to Conny, formerly of the German band Zadera, with whom I played a couple of gigs as part of 3 Hrs from Sundown.
T: It’s always good to meet your fans and friends. It was nice to see March Violets before we played.
A: As a “newbie” in the band, I’ve met a lot of new people lately, from fans to bands. It’s incredibly rewarding to meet people after the show.
S: It was a shame we were only in Leipzig for 36 hours, so we didn’t have much time to socialize.

What will you remember from this year’s WGT for a long time?
K: The wonderful, enthusiastic audience in the Täubchenthal and not to forget the dark beer.
A: The most important thing I will take away from WGT is the fantastic audience.
S: Every time we have played at the festival, we have received an amazing response from the audience. This year was no exception.
T: I always have good memories of the festival.
