MMera 2024 Main

12.-13.08.2023

August is M’era Luna time! So, of course, it was a matter of course for many fans of the black scene to travel to the airfield in Hildesheim Drispenstedt with kit and caboodle and to experience a brilliant weekend full of live music, fun and gluttony.

Most people arrived on Friday to secure a good spot on the campsite and to stock up on festival merch for themselves or their loved ones at home, as long as the supplies were not completely exhausted. Fortunately, enough food and drink had already been provided, so that nothing stood in the way of the famous “Anlegerbier” before you could either listen to the first readings and then dance your feet off in the disco hangar or simply go to bed early in order to start the first day of the festival well-rested the next morning.

This began at a moderate time at 11:00 a.m. with Antiage or, for those who like it more electronic, 20 minutes later on the Club Stage with Intent:Outtake. Tanzwut announced during their performance on the Main Stage around midday that they had slept little and drunk a lot, but this did not detract from their show, and the guys from Megaherz who followed rocked the stage properly, mentioning in passing that they had arrived with their new album. For those interested in fashion, the Gothic Fashion Show took place again this year in the Disco Hangar, where there were many new and fantastic creations to admire, many of which could be purchased on the premises in the Gothic Fashion Town. After the fashion show, L’Âme Immortelle started their emotional performance on the main stage before Joachim Witt brought the audience to their feet with his engaging appearance and a few songs from ‘Bayreuth 1’. As a special guest, Peter Heppner was on hand to support the classic ‘Die Flut’, although he would not make his own appearance until the following Sunday. So many big names graced the audience on this Saturday. Like Project Pitchfork, who set off a veritable firework display of hits, Solar Fake, who impressed with their synthpop sounds on the Club Stage, In Extremo and last but not least Ville Valo, the headliner of the day, who made us all reminisce with HIM classics.

Sunday was opened by Dragol on the Main Stage, who had just won the Newcomer Competition.

This was followed by highlights such as Eisfabrik and She Hates Emotions, who made their first festival appearance on the Club Stage, as singer Chris Pohl proudly announced. Letzte Instanz, The 69 Eyes and of course Peter Heppner, who had been welcomed to Witt the day before, graced the main stage. This year’s line-up had it all. Those who wanted to heat up even more in the slightly sultry temperatures and then cool down again with a cool shower of fake blood during the last song could do so during the strong performance by Agonoize or dance the night away to Subway to Sally at almost the same time. Mono Inc. and Hocico got the crowd going again before Sunday’s headliners, Within Temptation, touched everyone’s hearts with the incredible voice of front woman Sharon den Adel and sent the festival participants off into the night with a smile, because it was so beautiful, and a tear, because now everyone has to wait again.
